Day 221 - Adventures Around Dumont

Walking around my neighborhood is getting really boring. I'm starting to know the streets too well. I avoid walking around the curve between Barbara and Forest because there's a dead, rotting squirrel. Further down on Sherwood, there's a dog that barks at me. The bushes are overgrown on Cedar, so I can't walk on the sidewalk there. These are the observations I've made after wandering around the development for months. Sad.

I don't really like walking anywhere without a destination, so today I packed up my bag and walked to Dixon Homestead Library. (That's one public place I'm definitely allowed to be in, considering I don't think most children know libraries exist anymore. No crowds there!) I read my biological psychology textbook for about an hour and a half, I learned some interesting things about brain development, and then I walked back to Selzer School. The school day was over already, so there were barely any people in the building, but my mom doesn't care; she still freaks out. I promised her I wouldn't lick the desks, so she let me stay. Then I ate M&M's.

Who knows what adventures are in store for me tomorrow? Will I walk to the library again? Will I sit on a park bench? Will I learn about the occipital lobe and the primary visual cortex? Will I avoid the petrified squirrel on Bedford Road? So many possibilities! I'm sure you will all be eagerly awaiting the answers in my next blog...

I need to go back to school.
